For art class, our assignment is to pick two different paintings from two different styles and time periods and then combine them in one painting. I’m having a hard time picking two that would fit together and was wondering if anyone had any ideas they could give me.

I have a test tomorrow in my art appreciation course. I was reviewing the study guide and realized that I am unable to identify the primary element.

It seems like nearly all pieces contain line, shape, color, space and whatnot.

I have done a few paintings that I am going to try to sell at an arts and crafts sale at work. I have never sold anything before and I’m not sure how to price art. It seems like every time I go to an art show people are selling their stuff for a ton of money. I am not looking to be an artist, but I also don’t want to get laughed at. My paintings are 8.5 x 11 on watercolor paper. I used water color and acrylics. They took about an hour each. I thought about selling them for $10/each.

Out of the following choices: oil paints, watercolor, acrylic, pastels?

I took Art all 4 yrs of high school and we experimented with various mediums. I didnt care too much for watercolor then. After that, I didnt take any Art classes during college which I regret. I want to start up again just in my spare time. What do you use for inspiration also? Do you look at certain pictures and go from there? I’m just trying to get some ideas. Thanks!

What would make the best canvas for a folk art piece that will feature many different materials? Included in this creation will be shingles, outdoor carpet, and possibly other materials. I assume the different attachments will be applied with glue so what would make the best canvas? I have seen plywood used as a canvas in some folk art in a local gallery, but that seems a bit too primitive.
