Other - Visual Arts

I’ve been looking at artistic movements like dada, modernism and pop art. My favourite artist is Sophie Calle, but I’m unsure where her ideas lie within artistic movements, so I was wondering if anyone could shed light upon this here? Thanks :)

I remember when I took art, there was a certain paper that we used. It was somewhat thick from what I can remember. Does anyone know what it’s called?

I am applying to art schools and I have a lot of good pictures for my drawings and illustrations pieces but in terms of medium to smallish 3-D sculptures, I can’t afford a professional photographer to takes pics of my work. But i have a good quality digital camera. Any advice?

I mean in terms of professional artists. Nearly every one of the well-known artists have been formally educated in art, and self-taught artists even today appear to be almost shunned.

The only reason this sticks out is because it’s nothing like that in similar fields…? I mean, people are acclaimed as musical geniuses without having ever stepped foot in a conservatory. People like Tolstoy and Dickens aren’t naturally expected to have studied Literature at an education institute. So why does art school almost seem like an indisputable requirement for visual artists?

I am in AP art and I have trouble with cramming everything at the last minute. My concentration is night. Have any good composition about nighttime? I already established the idea of lampposts into my portfolio. My style is a bit whimsical. So, your suggestions could be anything 2-D. It’s hard to find inspiration when you are forced.

I am applying to some grad programs (SAIC and OSU) for painting and drawing and they require 20 examples of artwork. I did my undergrad in Art Education so I did not have a show, but I completed a minor in Studio.

Yeah, I just want to know what sorts of jobs are available to a person who enjoys art, is good at it and is planning to use it in the future… I go to an English based school so the possibilities for me in art are to take ‘O’ Level or GCSE(same thing) and then above that is the ‘A’ Level… Im currently taking the O level course and Im just curious about the sorts of jobs available with someone who achieves both those ranks. Also what path ways are there with graphics design, architecture and video game design? Tnx

Would it be mixed media? Or simply collage? I am looking into taking art classes over the summer and am having a hard time finding a class that I could make collages in. Thanks in advance?
