I plan to be an art professor, in either art history or studio art. How many years of school would I need and what should I major in?

I am currently in high school, and I want to major in an art-related subject. I was originally looking for art schools, but as much as I love art, I don’t want my life to be set in stone, and I think going to an exclusively “art” school would do exactly that. . I would like more flexibility with job opportunities. Someone told me that in that case, I should look for a regular college with a good art program.

I am aiming for a bachelors in art history, or a bachelors in fine arts with a minor in art history. How many credit hours are needed in order to get the degree? Thank you.

I am taking studio art in college right now and a professor is trying to get me to become a teacher. I don’t know what I would need to teach at college level. Would I need to follow the art education curriculum? Or just continue on the path I am on and get my masters? If I teach, I may end up teaching animation, but I love the fine arts too.

I’m planning on moving to Tampa to attend the Art Institute. This is the first time I’ve been on my own and I’m a little hesitant. Will this school help me get situated and also give me the education I’m looking for?

I am planning on going to a portfolio day at an art school and I was wondering if I should bring works that clearly show my creative style, even though they are similar, or should I bring works that are done in different media and styles to show a wide range of ability?

I am a musician who wants to major in music theory. All the conservatories ask for talent performers, which I am not. I am a good composer and would love to have a career in theory (like a teacher). Of the art colleges I have looked at, some lack the music oreintated edge conservatories have.
By art college, I mean liberal art college.

Also I was wondering, if I want to send a recording of my piano playing do I record it on tape or do I simply wait for an interview to play the piano in person? I want to send some of my artwork to non- art colleges, but am not sure whether or not if i have to make slides for the pieces (like for the AP Studio Art exam). I am not planning on being applying as an art major by the way…
